On November 23rd, 2024, KHFSS members assisted employees at Fresh World in Springfield, VA by taking on both the morning and afternoon bagging shifts in order to raise money for a charitable cause. After careful consideration, the money earned by our members was collectively donated to support recently escaped North Korean refugees seeking to build a new life.

After each shift, the director at Fresh World generously provided our members with a warm, hearty meal as a token of appreciation. The gesture not only reflected the spirit of the Fresh World community, but also offered volunteers a moment to rest and reflect on their experience together, as seen in the image of members enjoying their meal after the morning shift.

During their time at Fresh World, KHFSS members were given valuable insight into the fast-paced and demanding nature of retail work. The through this experience, our members learned about the importance of collaboration, developed our communication skills, and gave our members a greater sense of empathy and respect for the essential role retail workers play in daily life.
We at KHFSS are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside the staff at Fresh World. This experience allowed us to broaden our perspectives, gain valuable work experience, and contribute meaningfully to our community. Thanks to our combined efforts, we successfully raised a thousand dollars for our cause, with the hope that this contribution will positively impact the lives of the refugees.
