On October 19, 2019, KHFSS held a yard sale with the purpose of raising funds for our next project, a Korean traditional calligraphy event. Members of KHFSS prepared and set up clothes and other household objects that were not used anymore early in the morning. We also placed a bamboo stick reaching from the window frame to a tree, and hung the clothes on the stick, which worked as a good decoration too.

At first, it was a struggle to sell them because people barely visited us; however, few customers came over after a long wait. The customers wanted to cut down the prices to a point where we were concerned about making enough profits, so we had to negotiate with them to make a fair price.

Our goal was to make $300, and it seemed very difficult to achieve, so some of our members decided to go around the town and place signs of our yard sale. Despite the freezing weather, the members held signs on the side of the streets to attract more drivers passing by to the sale.

Luckily, at the end of the day, we were able to make $325 and proceed to our next plan. From this experience, members of KHFSS were able to experience the process of fundraising for an activity. With our experience, we can hold another fundraising more effectively on a bigger scale to prepare for a large event.
